SUMMARY:
33 Beekman Street is a 34-story tower structure that is recognized as the world’s tallest college residence. The Pace University dormitory, located in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District, consists of approximately 385 dormitory rooms and totals 172,000 GSF. The dormitory was developed by SL Green and the Naftali Group and features many amenities for students, including a fitness room, staff offices, meeting rooms, and several student lounges. It also includes a public NYC Park consisting of approximately 3,000 square feet of outdoor plaza and features including granite pavers with in-ground lighting, IPE wood plaza benches with under-seat lighting, and moonlight fixtures mounted at the top of the structure. Challenges during construction included the proximity of the MTA subway structure to the jobsite. 33 Beekman Street broke ground in May 2013 and was completed in time for Pace University’s 2015 Fall Semester as originally intended.
